Coming Soon From Aetna RE: Aetna Retiree Products Release Date: 7-3-07 Source: Small Group Underwriting Many of you have encountered the following situation. a small group (under 20 eligible lives) has an active employee over age 65 whose spouse is under 65. You would like to move the Medicare edible (over65) employee to a small Group Medicare plan, but you don't want the spouse to lose his/her commercial coverage. We have good news! Effective immediately, Aetna will allow the under age 65 spouse to remain on the commercial plan - as an active enrollee, not as a COBRA enrollee. The under age 65 spouse may remain on the commercial plan as long as the commercial plan remains in force and the overage employee remains insured in an Aetna Medicare Advantage Plan, or until the spouse becomes eligible for Medicare.
